Prayer Guide for Friday, May 2 - Sunday, May 4

Pray for Michigan . . .
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective [James 5:16 NIV]

"…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." [II Chronicles 7:14 NIV]

"As we begin to pray for Michigan, use the above verse to prepare yourself to pray for Michigan."

Lord, I confess and repent of the sins in my life. Holy Spirit, reveal areas You are displeased with in my life. I repent of my prayerlessness and inattentiveness to Your Word. Draw me into intimacy with You and love for others.

For Michigan’s Government . . .

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone–for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." [1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV]

"These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts." [Zechariah 8:16NIV]

Lord, we pray that You cover and guide every aspect of our government in Michigan: the Lansing bureaucracy, legislators, lobbyists and staffs, as well as our local governments and councils. We ask that You touch the hearts of our leaders and the judges in our courts. By Your grace and mercy, grant them wisdom to act with integrity and lead the people of Michigan according to Your principles and purposes.

We pray that fear, distraction and deception would be removed as influences upon our government and that You would release boldness, clarity and righteousness in our political system and throughout our state. Help those who know You to be courageous in standing for truth with humility and love for their fellow man.

For Michigan’s Economy…

"You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor." [Psalms 68:9-10 NIV]

"So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you…then I will send rain on your land in its season…that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied." [Deuteronomy 11:13-15 NIV]

Lord, we ask for favor and increase in our economy. We pray You would bless our state’s commerce and industry with Your abundant provision to meet the needs of our families and communities. You are the Creator, and we ask You to use Your creative power to bring new technology and jobs to Michigan.

We pray that You would grant wisdom to our business leaders from the largest corporation to the smallest sole-proprietor. May the marketplace be fruitful and prosper as business owners and leaders acknowledge dependence on You as the source of all good things. Extend our resources, as You did with your children as they wondered through the desert, until the time our economy flourishes once again.

For Elections . . .

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance." [Psalms 33:12 NKJ]

"But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them." [2 Chronicles 15:4 NIV]

Lord, we pray that in the upcoming elections You would protect our freedoms and way of life by installing in office men and women committed to serving with integrity. We ask that You prompt Your people to become involved in the voting process and with a realization that the outcomes of the 2008 elections are critical in determining the future course of our state and nation. Raise up righteous leaders who will seek Your guidance and protection in the years to come.

Lord we ask for godly, pro-life leadership to win in every election, especially the offices of President, Vice President and in Congress. We pray that You would give discernment to the people of our state and nation to see truth and vote for righteous values and leaders.

We ask all these things in the precious Name of Jesus.

As you listen to the Lord…during this Prayer and Fasting time…

* Commit your ways to Him.
* Be diligent in your daily walk.
* Ask for His vision for your life.
